HUSKY - WooCommerce Products Filter (former WOOF) – filter by categories, attributes, price and meta fields, with a built-in MCP server — by RealMag777

What to do

  1. Update to the latest version (1.4.7). Anything older than 1.4.7 has at least one known issue listed below. Dashboard → Updates, or Plugins → “update now”.
  2. If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
  3. Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
  4. If you ran a vulnerable version and something looks off (spam pages, strange admins, redirects), run the free scan.

With WP-CLI: wp plugin get woocommerce-products-filter --field=version shows what you run; wp plugin update woocommerce-products-filter updates it.

The HUSKY – Products Filter for WooCommerce Professional plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.5 via the 'woof_settings[woof_stat][server_options]' parameter. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to extract the external MySQL host, database name, username, and plaintext password stored in woof_settings[woof_stat][server_options] from the inline woof_tm_data script object on any public frontend filter page. This is only exploitable when an administrator has enabled the Statistics extension, saved external MySQL connection credentials, and enabled Turbo Mode — all supported, documented plugin configurations.

Details from the advisory

The HUSKY – Products Filter for WooCommerce Professional plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local File Inclusion in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.4 via the 'shortcode' parameter parameter. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to include and execute arbitrary .php files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where .php file types can be uploaded and included. This vulnerability is exploitable by unauthenticated users because the only access control is a nonce check against woof_front_nonce, which is publicly emitted into inline JavaScript on every front-end page and is therefore obtainable by any site visitor without authentication.

Details from the advisory

The HUSKY – Products Filter Professional for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via SEO-friendly permalink filter URL segments in versions up to, and including, 1.4.3. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the wp_load_js() function, which reads filter values from the URL path via the url_request extension's parse_url_query() and embeds them into an inline JavaScript string using json_encode() without escaping single quotes. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a specially crafted link.

Note: the source's version range goes past the newest HUSKY release on wordpress.org (1.4.7), so it probably describes a paid edition with its own version numbers, or contains a typo. We do not use it to judge your version.

Details from the advisory

A remote code execution issue was discovered in the WooCommerce Products Filter (aka WOOF) plugin before 2.2.0 for WordPress, as demonstrated by the shortcode parameter in a woof_redraw_woof action. The plugin implemented a page redraw AJAX function accessible to anyone without any authentication. WordPress shortcode markup in the "shortcode" parameters would be evaluated. Normally unauthenticated users can't evaluate shortcodes as they are often sensitive.

Details from the advisory

A local file inclusion issue was discovered in the WooCommerce Products Filter (aka WOOF) plugin before 2.2.0 for WordPress, as demonstrated by the shortcode parameter in a woof_redraw_woof action. The vulnerability is due to the lack of args/input validation on render_html before allowing it to be called by extract(), a PHP built-in function. Because of this, the supplied args/input can be used to overwrite the $pagepath variable, which then could lead to a local file inclusion attack.
