What to do

  1. Update to the latest version (2.1.13). Anything older than 2.1.13 has at least one known issue listed below. Dashboard → Updates, or Plugins → “update now”.
  2. If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
  3. Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
  4. If you ran a vulnerable version and something looks off (spam pages, strange admins, redirects), run the free scan.

With WP-CLI: wp plugin get minify-html-markup --field=version shows what you run; wp plugin update minify-html-markup updates it.

The Minify HTML plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 2.1.12. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the 'minify_html_menu_options' function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update plugin settings via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.
