What to do

  1. Update to the latest version (1.3.0). Anything older than 1.1.4 has at least one known issue listed below. Dashboard → Updates, or Plugins → “update now”.
  2. If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
  3. Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
  4. If you ran a vulnerable version and something looks off (spam pages, strange admins, redirects), run the free scan.

With WP-CLI: wp plugin get media-sweep --field=version shows what you run; wp plugin update media-sweep updates it.

Details from the advisory

The Media Sweep – WordPress Media Cleaner plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to generic SQL Injection via the 'fields' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.3 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
