CVE-2026-86611: Download Manager cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability

medium 4.3 published 2026-10-21

Fixed in Download Manager 3.3.71

Download Manager older than 3.3.71, 4.0.0 up to (not including) 7.5.9 are affected by this CSRF issue. Sites on 3.3.71 or newer are not affected; the latest release is 3.3.75.

Note: part of the source's version range goes past the newest Download Manager release on wordpress.org (3.3.75), so it probably describes a paid edition with its own version numbers, or contains a typo. We do not use that part to judge versions.

  2. If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
  3. Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
  4. Not sure which version you run? Check your version against every known Download Manager issue. With WP-CLI: wp plugin get download-manager --field=version.
  5. If you ran an affected version and something looks off (new admin users, spam pages, redirects), run the free scan below.

The advisory

The Download Manager WordPress plugin before 3.3.71, Download Manager WordPress plugin before 7.5.9 does not have CSRF checks in some places, allowing attackers to make a logged in admin update its privacy and storage settings via a crafted link, including the credential that gates its unauthenticated maintenance endpoint.
