What to do now
- Update Media Library Assistant to 3.42 or newer (the latest is 3.44): Dashboard → Updates, or Plugins → “update now”.
- If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
- Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
- Not sure which version you run? Check your version against every known Media Library Assistant issue.
With WP-CLI:
wp plugin get media-library-assistant --field=version. - If you ran an affected version and something looks off (new admin users, spam pages, redirects), run the free scan below.
The advisory
The Media Library Assistant WordPress plugin before 3.42 does not verify a CSRF nonce on its Empty Trash media action, so a forged cross-site request can cause a logged-in user with the Editor role or above to permanently delete every trashed attachment on the site.
