What to do now

  1. Update Wallet System for WooCommerce to 2.8.2 or newer: Dashboard → Updates, or Plugins → “update now”.
  2. If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
  3. Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
  4. Not sure which version you run? Check your version against every known Wallet System for WooCommerce issue. With WP-CLI: wp plugin get wallet-system-for-woocommerce --field=version.
  5. If you ran an affected version and something looks off (new admin users, spam pages, redirects), run the free scan below.

The advisory

The Wallet System for WooCommerce WordPress plugin before 2.8.2 does not restrict its KYC document submission handler to the current user's own account, taking the target user ID from a client-supplied request field with no ownership or capability check, allowing authenticated users with minimal privileges such as Subscriber or Customer to overwrite the KYC documents and verification status of any other user, including an administrator.
