What to do now

  1. Update Blog2Social to 9.1.5 or newer (the latest is 9.1.6): Dashboard → Updates, or Plugins → “update now”.
  2. If you cannot update right away, deactivate it until you can.
  3. Turn on auto-updates for it: Plugins → “Enable auto-updates” on its row.
  4. Not sure which version you run? Check your version against every known Blog2Social issue. With WP-CLI: wp plugin get blog2social --field=version.
  5. If you ran an affected version and something looks off (new admin users, spam pages, redirects), run the free scan below.

The advisory

The Blog2Social – Social Media Auto Post & Scheduler plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 9.1.4. This is due to the b2s_ship_item and b2s_ship_item_reload_url AJAX handlers lacking per-object authorization on the postId parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to read the title and content of any post, including private and pending posts belonging to other users.
